PROVO, Utah -- February 11, 1992 -- Novell, Inc. today released details
about the first books to be published under its newly formed Novell Press
imprint. The company announced in November its intention to publish
technical books about the business solutions offered by Novell products.
Leading computer book publisher Sybex Inc., in partnership with Novell,
will develop, manufacture, and distribute Novell Press books to retail
book stores.
Novell and Sybex will publish from six to nine Novell Press books during
1992. The focus will be on practical, detailed information for NetWare
administrators, including a book on error message troubleshooting, a
comprehensive volume on NetWare 3.11, a guide to printing under NetWare,
and a book on NetWare Lite. Other books will cover DR DOS, UNlX
connectivity, and electronic mail.
"Our purpose in forming Novell Press is to establish a reliable and
definitive technical information source for our customers." said Peter
Jerram, publisher of Novell Press. "Users and resellers need practical
information about integrating and managing diverse network computing
environments. Novell Press will begin to address this need by publishing
books on UNIX, DR DOS, and NetWare in 1992."
Top writers and industry experts will collaborate on books to ensure that
the material is based on real-world environments, and include information
gained through direct field experience.
Sybex also announced that noted industry analyst Cheryl Currid had agreed
to author the Novell Press guide to NetWare 3.11. "There is a real thirst
for knowledge in our industry," said Currid, "and I think that Novell is
in a unique position to fill the information gap in a way that no one else
can."
Novell Press is based in San Jose, California, in Novell Executive Vice
President Mary Burnside's Corporate Services organization. "Novell is in
business not only to produce technology, but also to grow the industry by
providing accurate and responsible information for our customers," said
Burnside, "I'm pleased that we can further this cause through Novell
Press."
